Chapter I:   OUR IDENTITY

1.  The form of life of the Brothers and Sisters is this:  To observe the holy Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ, living in obedience, in poverty and in chastity.  Following Jesus Christ after the example of  St. Francis, let them recognize that they are called to make greater efforts in their observance of the precepts and counsels of Our Lord Jesus Christ.  Let them deny themselves (Mt. 16:24) as each has promised the Lord.

COMMENTARY

All Christians are called to live the counsels of the Gospel, namely chastity, poverty and obedience.  Married, single, clerical and religious each seek to actualize these counsels according to their state in life, so that right relationships are formed among themselves and with all creation.

Fidelity and love are values that help to form a strong foundation in any relationship.  Family and community thrive in an atmosphere of mutual respect and care.
